you divide both sides by 7.

y is also y^1, so when you divide that by 7, it becomes y^1/7

if you want to inverse it, you have to move the exponent to the other side. the only way you can do that is to divide both sides by the exponent of 7:

y = x^7
y^1/7 = x^7/7
y^1/7 = x

x = y^1/7
