90% of first year students get this wrong, can you solve it?

If that were true, then income disparity would be a nonissue since living standards have been rising across the board.

Wealth is a social concept - the middle class probably lives better than medieval nobles, but they certainly don't feel like it.

Wealth and success is relative, and if the US can keep ahead by holding the world back, I'm okay with it.

We don't want or need foreign students, they take away opportunity from Americans.

If they stay, they drive down the wage of they American worker, they go home, they take knowledge with them and make their home countries more competitive against the American economy.

America has nothing to gain from giving opportunities for foreigners.

People are not "rational".

Their logic can be affected in the short term when emotions put them in another mental state.

Self-identification and relatability matters more than reasoning for most people who did not rigorously examine logic (e.g. studying hard science, discrete math, logical fallacies). It's hard for people to criticize those who they relate with or call them out on their bullshit, since it would be an implicit admission of a personal flaw.

tl;dr

Thinking is more psychology than logic for the masses.

The feeling goes away once you understand rhetoric and how self-identification affect how people think.

Be good at algorithms and problem solving. Good companies hire smart people and give them maybe three weeks to understand a technology instead of hiring a mediocre one that happens to be familiar with a particular skill.

I hate it
when people type like this.

The abrupt
linebreaks are really
fucking annoying.

It's like a freaky
little haiku, but
in fucktardese rather
than human language.
