If I were to pursue mathematics in university, would I be allowed to perform and engage in creativity, or would it be the mere recitation of dogmas of dead geniuses to senile one-trick pony professors who misinterpret them and can only use their insights for pestering outsiders?

>Basically, they engage with the knowing fiction because they fear losing touch with the mass psychosis hivemind and being ostracized.
They engage specifically because the situation was dragged out and threatened to never end, thus necessitating the "fight or flight" response on a societal level. Unfortunately "society" isn't run on paranoid crabs with fight or flight responses (at least not normally anyway). The negatives of the situation are laid out and promised based upon the actions of the crabs. They work their hardest to ensure that the promised collapse happens because every crab knows that each crab is in it for themselves and no one really wants this dance and pony show called "society" to continue on in such a broken perpetually fear riddled state.

The opportunity was presented for people to help the government machine kill itself so everyone grabbed a wrench and threw it in the spokes. I don't blame them, this nonsense has demonstrably gotten way out of hand and the people who started it deserve punishment. The real retards are the ones still buying into the garbage. You know, the ones still wearing masks and shilling vaccines thinking the crabs are not only selfish but also stupid. Fuck those retards, they didn't even try to get out of the bucket so they will be crushed under the weight of all the crabs.

rocketlab is a cope company and reposting 22 power point slides from last thread is a display of their irrelevancy.
reminder that picrel >>15238704 contains no rocket lab reaction wheels, star trackers or radios.

Ex teacher here. Australian. But I would guess its much the same in all western countries. Education is no longer results driven. Its all about "equality of outcomes". Its the idea that focusing resources on the dumbest kids will result in everyone graduating at the same level. Which is sort of true except they didn't take into account that dumb kids are dumb for a reason. They can't learn. No matter how much special treatment you throw at them. So as a result everyone gets dragged down to their level.

There's about half a dozen other reasons and they all tie into each other. Lack of discipline. Dysfunctional families. Bureaucracy. Etc etc. Mostly politically driven too. But I would say the "equality of outcomes" bullshit is the biggest factor. Its like throwing a pig into a classroom and then demanding the class will not progress until the pig has mastered linear equations. Of course the pig doesn't pass so then the standard becomes one of making "oink oink!" noises.

The really smart teachers manage to negotiate this minefield with a variety of strategies. It rankled with me to have to adopt such maneuvering instead of just being able to teach. Constantly looking over your shoulder and putting effort into appearing to follow the system which you know to be deeply flawed, and there is nothing you can do about it. But the vast majority of teachers are not smart. Most of them are in fact pretty dim. A lot of them are pretty young things with tied up pony tails and CFBs, waiting out a few years until they can snare a meal ticket. They are utterly incompetent and honestly do not give a fuck. We would inherit the mess they make. Think of starting a new year with a class that still hasn't mastered the skill of making "oink oink!" noises. Its that bad. Personally I got so fed up with my dumb colleagues and the mess of the Education system that I had to leave. Best choice ever.

>Fed gov does
TEXAS does, and Texas will happily hand over whatever land Spacex wants once Starship is flying regularly.
Spacex will probably need to pony up some cash for wetland preservation programs and build a state park visitor's center or two, but the Texas government will do everything they can once the success of that rocket is assured because it means keeping the main driver of an aerospace boom within the state.

>everything we like is good and everyone who made it possible is bad and we hate them

I'd really like it if people tried arguing against points people make instead of their own weird fantasy version of their opponents, but most people who are being dumb in internet arguments these days are just trying to emotionally win an argument against their parents telling them why they couldn't get a pony for Christmas as a kid.

I literally dropped a 2.5 hr documentary about this a few days ago

https://youtu.be/wD4xrnzKN1Y

In short, he was definitely smart, but his math was not genius tier. It was kind of standard measure theory / analysis. Many of his proofs were waaay too detailed for no reason (he wrote an alternate proof for a result his professors had proved 6 years earlier. Their proof was half a page. His was 8 pages for no reason other than he loved being detailed.) At the same time he was able to get some new results specifically because he was comfortable going so far in the weeds (e.x. That every F_sigma_delta set is the set of curvilinear convergence for some continuous half plane function).

Complex analysts were somewhat interested in his work at the time, but Ted had no interest in doing anything other than boundary functions. He was kind of a one trick pony, likely because he was sick of math by the time he left Berkeley, but his contributions at the end of the day were minimal because he didn’t make connections with the rest of the community. His field of boundary functions basically disappeared in the 70s after he left.
