I plan to do research, maybe lecturing, maybe i'll fail, who knows, but once I have a PhD i'll be able to get a decent job somewhere

I don't know, no one here cares about those competitions

I find it funny. I like discussing politics without having people say "RACIST, RACISTTTTTTTTTTT" just because i say immigration isn't our salvation

1+1=2 should get you into oxford
but seriously, just read some interesting maths problems, make sure you know all the alevel stuff you've learnt already

I got a D in design and technology lol

I'm not considered a nerd. I wasn't popular, but I was liked. I wasn't like a nerd, sitting at the front of the class answering all the questions. I skipped lessons all the time, usually to study on my own because it saves time.

AAAB,

A in maths, further maths and physics.
B in psychology >implying i tried

I got full marks in most of my modules in maths, further maths and physics, except for those damn statistics bullshit. and Physics practical exams.

Blowjobs with the girl under the desk. Study whilst spooging.

no, my parents were completely shocked that I was smart. they certainly didn't deliberately encourage me, but I always loved brainteasers so they got me a book of brainteasers when I was young.

IQ testing is a measure of something. Certainly not intelligence, but it measures something which is part of intelligence. My IQ when I was tested 10 years ago was 137. You can call me whatever you like.

I enjoyed maths, I enjoy physics. I am not driven by money or success, just in interest and the intelluctual challenge.

I'm not from a well-off family. My parents earn slightly less than the average wage in the UK. My parents dropped out of school at 14. They are not educated in a formal sense, but they are not stupid. My father in particular has a sharp common sense

Get quints every post.

But generally you need to be in the top of your year at whatever university you're in. Some offers for PhDs in the maths department are given by "getting in the Top 5 of Part III candidates"

What's the work like?
Hard
What's your favorite class so far?
Quantum mechanics
What's your typical schedule like?
3-4 hours of lectures a day, then 8-10 hours of studying
How would you rate your raw mathematical talent, assuming that:
Leonhard Euler = 100
Gauss = 98
Isaac Newton = 90
The average math professor = 50

I'd say maybe 40

How old are you?
20
What are you studying, exactly? Pure math? Applied math? Finance?
Applied maths and theoretical physics

What do you plan to do with your degree once you graduate?

PhD

study maybe 8-10 hours.
It's all just problem sheets. Computer projects I do outside of term time.

>Did you get a scholarship or how are you paying the ridiculous amount of money they ask of you?

Firstly, as a UK student, I'm only paying small fees.
And secondly, since i'm from a 'poor' family (so poor we own a piano and computers and stuff, oh woe is me) that I get everything payed for, and then some. My bank account is currently filling up with the grant money.
