Khan Academy. Saging because I don't want it being infested. It's one of the last really good fucking tutoring websites out there. Try Pauls Online Notes, too.

Search for both on Google.

this is true. at my school, everyone claims to be an engineer undergrad, but i rarely see actual engineers who graduated. same with mathematics, which is my major. we have to write a senior thesis, give a presentation and go through this entire hoopla just to get the BSc. shit's ridiculous.

I was homeschooled. And, you're an engineer.

Faggot.

so true.

OP, go for it. I suggest going to a Comm. College first just to get your feet wet. Start out by taking a few College credits at first. Between 8 and 12. That way, you'll comprehend the rigor needed for part-time / full-time college work and you're not pressuring yourself too much. Comm. College gives you a chance to pace yourself since deadlines aren't as rushed as 4yr Universities/Colleges. If you take advantage of everything there, you can study hard and learn your subject(s) VERY well. Most Comm. Colleges are hiring more professors, too, from respectable Universities, so you have an edge in that department too.

Just take your time, be patient, and try to focus as much as possible.

I see some algebraic geometry. :D

I'm pissed off with some of the Math content on Rhizome. I don't know WHERE all the Math books went.

I write. Believe it or not, keeping a journal/diary is extremely therapeutic to the mind, body and soul. Conversing with a close relative or friend also aids in lifting ones' spirits. If either of those two options don't work, attempt to tackle the dilemma(s) head on and make a change. As someone who attends school full-time and works part-time during semesters, I don't have enough time to do a lot of fun things with friends. However, I attempt to incorporate small little habits that make me happy, such as working out, reading a wide variety of books if/when I can and generally trying to consort with people, strangers included.

Also, never post on /b/ when you're feeling down. The inhabitants of that board will only make you feel worse most of the time and you'll be running the risk of bullshit/trolls.

Didn't you just create a thread about God and your Grandparents?

You motherfucker.

Anyway, I'm out. I hope I provided some decent tips for you, OP. If I seem a bit harsh in what I say, I don't mean to be; I just don't want to spoon-feed you niceties and make you believe the world is filled with fairies and roses. It isn't. Just believe in yourself and dedicate your life to enhancement.

tl;dr, you're a good kid, just get on the right track/develop confidence and you'll be fine.

That isn't necessary. That was a bad post and you should feel bad.

>>1492812

Stop trying to prove anything to them. That's your problem. You're attempting to gain acceptance by them through proving something they have protested against; especially your Grandfather. Focus on your own life and goals. Be the man you want to be; simple as that.

>> No.1492797 [View]

I find it ironic that your tripfag name is ego when you have none. Despite this flagrant decision to post on /sci/ and not on /adv/, where you truly need to be, I'll provide some modicum of assistance.

In life, there will always be people who will push you and your goals down. I cannot tell you how many times a person has said to me, "you won't pass this exam/this class/achieve anything." It's apart of life and despite how painful it is, it is apart of human nature and you must come to accept that. Instead of arguing consistently with your grandparents about God or other facets of your life, focus on yourself. Furthermore, if you believe in God so much, then you should take the time to learn more about yourself as a human being. As a Mathematics major who is also deeply devoted to spirituality and a small amount of religion, I've found the best solution to acquiring peace is through self love, preservation and commitment to enhancing oneself. Continue with your dreams and major in whatever you like, despite what anyone may say.

Sadly, as children, we sometimes expect that our genetic predecessors will be there for us in times of dire straits or need. It is not a flaw on your part that they aren't; rather, it is a flaw on theirs. As someone who was born within a huge family, but only close to my mother, I can attest to this fact. The majority of people are scoundrels and I'm sorry. I'm sorry that it's true and I'm sorry the world operates in that fashion. However, don't let this put you down; on the contrary, let it make you stronger. Do your best so you can always shove your success in their faces when they come back to you, begging for a modicum of your thoughts.

hasn't heard of John Nash.

Nash began as a Chemistry Eng. major and went over to Mathematics later on in his career.

http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/economics/laureates/1994/nash-autobio.html

People can change their minds at any time. A true Mathematics major isn't defined by birth or the decisions in his youth, but the passion he has for the subject.

Niggas, is you serious? I made straight 100s in my History/Sociology classes. I'm not even trying to brag, either. Those courses are all about reading, reading, reading. Once you understand that, you'll be merry. It's not that hard, either. Just read on the train going to/from school, while you're on the toilet, listening to music and/or bored, etc. I set aside a few hours every two/three days to just read 3/4 chapters of the book(s) needed for those classes.

Damn, niggas. Damn.

This. In addition, you're just being a huge fucking asshole.

The concept of a 'soul' is still up in the air, believe it or not. Scientists really can't quantify it, and religious zealots can't exactly explicate what it is. Just because Scientists can't quantify it, as of now, doesn't mean they won't be able to in the future. Furthermore, there are aspects and functions of our body which we still haven't figured out(i.e., brain)and we don't know exactly why we can't. For all you know, the soul could exist; it just can't be quantified as of yet.

>>1284497

A soul ... doesn't survive death .. like, at all. In actuality, people comprehend souls/spirits AFTER the person is dead.

Jesus Christ, guys. Come the fuck on. This may be a /sci/ board, but you guys need to use common fucking sense. You don't have to be some fucking mad scientist with everything, hurr durr.
