This, more or less.

Also, try Khanacademy.org. Purplemath is also relatively good, but contains a few mistakes. Just be careful about it. I'd recommend Khan academy above all else.

Also, /sci/ has no problem helping others who are involved in self study; we have a dilemma with those who want their homework problems done. If there's a concept you're unfamiliar with, feel free to inquire and we'll gladly answer your inquiry to the best of our ability.

rofl, I know an engineering professor who has some fucking 'women engineering scholarship' bullshit going on at some school and he constantly takes them on 'trips.' everyone knows he's fucking them.

all the female engineers avg A's and B's in his class, but have C's in the calculus courses. it's hysterical. he doesn't give a shit, and all the other students laugh.

Technically speaking, I can just factor out the negative and still get the answer. It's just a matter of carrying over that negative 1 to make it equivalent.

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=factor+-5a^2+%2B+6a+-+1

Damn, niggas.

I factored out signs to make my life simpler.

I had this originally:

-5a^2 + 6a - 1

So, I multiplied each one by a -1 to make:
-(-5a^2 + 6a - 1)
5a^2 - 6a + 1

There probably is a sign error, though, as someone pointed out.

Wolfram gives the answer as -(a-1)(5a-1), so I just need to carry the negative -1 over to make it equivalent to the original problem(-5a + 6a - 1).

...

What the fuck are you people doing?

Is it just me, or am I the only one noticing that 0/0 is a fucking indeterminate form? Why haven't I seen another comment pointing out this fact?

>> No.2069134 [View]

>>2069126

No. If you can utilize the factoring method, it is much easier. It saves a lot of time. The quadratic formula is time consuming sometimes.

4a^2 - (3a -1)^2
4a^2 - ( 9a^2 - 6a + 1)
4a^2 - 9a^2 + 6a - 1
-5a^2 + 6a - 1
-(-5a^2 + 6a - 1)
5a^2 - 6a + 1

Again, master product:

5(1) = 5.

5 is prime; hence 5 and 1 only. -5 + -1 = -6.

5a^2 - 5a - a + 1
5a(a - 1) -1(a - 1)
(5a - 1)(a-1)

Subconsciously, you found two numbers which, when you multiply, you acquire -8. You're also aware of the fact that 3 is a prime; hence, the only factors available are 3 and 1.

I do it your way, too, OP. I just see it, write it and call it a day. You could use the master product technique, which showcases all of your work, but it boils down to the same answer.

(3)(-8) = -24.

What are the factors of -24 which will inevitably give you a sum(or difference) of -2?

12 / 2
4 / 6.
8 / 3
24 / 1.

Looks like -6 + 4 = -2. That suffices. So, you can write the problem as:

3a^2 -6a + 4a - 8
3a(a -2)+4(a - 2)
(3a + 4)(a-2)

Voila. That's the elongated proof.

Hi, EK. How are you?

No. Fubini's theorem; the polar coordinate version.

>>2044962

What he said. The Gaussian integral utilizes Fubini's polar coordinate version. You have to remember that the Gaussian integral cannot be analyzed in the typical manner; you must incorporate the polar coordinate system to analyze it properly.

We know that the integral of the e^x^2 = sqrt of pi. Do you know the mathematical proof of it, though?

Read Aristotle, then Cicero. Afterwards, read Boethius and St. Augustine.

It'll help you comprehend everything more, on a philosophical level. It'll also help you understand the religious premise a bit more, as well.

>> No.2044876 [View]

Just do the definite integral in polar coordinates in that case, multiplied by that constant.

C(x^2 + y^2)
C(r^2)
Cr^2.

Impose Fubini's theorem, and just solve. Calculate the answer that way.

Shut the fuck up. This isn't /b/. If it's her, then it's her. If it isn't, then it isn't.

Asking for a timestamp is useless. You will not start a camwhore thread on /sci/.

(That's a bit ironic, considering EK is theoretically camwhoring if it is her. Still, I don't want a NUDE camwhore thread on /sci/.)

Nigga, you're stepping over the line right now. Habitually.

You're becoming a habitual line stepper. You best be ready to stop that shit, motherfucker.

Someone asked him the same question, and he said no.

The guy is genuinely fucking smart. I don't want my post(s) to discredit his intellect at all. I just want to see him go outside on occasion. Do something.

He's on /sci/ a lot, man. Asshole, stop being on /sci/. And do something, like ..

Not be on /sci/.

I hate your Godforsaken picture.
I hate you.

Stop browsing /sci/, EK. You're a good namefag, but jesus fucking christ dude, get out of the house. I fucking see you here all the time. Get a girlfriend, dude.

Fuck.

God damnit, go to bed. You're the most resilient and informative namefag I know, but you have got to get some rest sometime. I'm saging this thread so you get the fuck off of this board and get some sleep.

Seriously, you're a smart guy, but you spend too much fucking time here. Go elsewhere.

Yes, because I have time to list every fucking woman in Science. Those names literally came off of the top of my head.

Not mad. The question is just thoroughly retarded, and could've been answered if the person typed in something as simple as 'female scientists/mathematicians.' The OP(probably you) is just angst that a bitch rejected him, or he lost an argument with a female.

If anyone's mad, it's you.

You jelly?
You mad?
Deal with it.

Yep. The thread on /x/ was saged and bullshitted significantly. Trolls ran in, and the thread went down in about two hours.

I've been interested in this for a while, personally. I never really got into it heavy, but it was always intriguing to me. I know India has a habit of making some false statements, though(i.e., no real evidence of the guy who is supposedly subsisting on nothing; some of them talking up a shitstorm about their NASA program, etc).
