I think a cool concept too as a villain or maybe more of a relatable antagonist/antihero would be a crew mate who's lost all ration and is bent on becoming the "king of hell" (the foreign planet).
He should be really fucked up and forgotten his morals, like raping people and killing people.
It becomes cult like and the protagonist struggles with the idea of becoming corrupted like him, while he's like satan and trying to lure the MC.
and interesting twist would be that he's amassed followers who've made him a god, and in spite he desires to return to earth and kill everyone there, using ancient abandoned alien that corrupts him into having the abilities akin to a god, with the flaw of a human mind.
