From Amazon's product description:

>Kate bravely and wittily shares personal and unorthodox methods of survival for navigating an often cruel world. A one-of-a-kind guide to staying alive outside the box, Hello, Cruel World is a much-needed unconventional approach to teenage suicide prevention for marginalized youth who want to stay on the edge, but alive.

>Hello, Cruel World features a catalog of 101 Alternatives to Suicide that range from the playful (Moisturize), to the irreverent (Disbelieve the Binary), to the highly controversial (Get Laid. Please). Designed to encourage readers to give themselves permission to unleash their hearts’ harmless desires, the book has only one directive: "Don’t be mean." It is this guiding principle that brings its reader on a self-validating journey, which forges wholly new paths toward a resounding decision to choose life.

>Tenderly intimate and unapologetically edgy, Kate is the radical role model, the affectionate best friend, and the guiding mentor all in one kind and spirited package.

I picked it up at one of at one of her readings because I liked her Gender Outlaws book. Got 'em both signed.

Stuff like that, yeah.

Besides, if I were really Tao Lin, I'd be typing like a heroin addict and not using capital letters or proper punctuation.

Ah, I almost forgot about Ayn Rand.

See, I've been sort of getting into Tao Lin, but every time I see a Tao Lin thread, it's usually some sort of massive shitstorm of trolling and other shenanigans.

Is Tao Lin to /lit/ what Neutral Milk Hotel or Radiohead are to /mu/, in that the discussion or mere mention of each subject invariably leads to massive trolling?

Up until now, I never knew Tao Lin was a regular/semi-regular on 4chan.

Also, I didn't realize that there was a Tao Lin thread already in progress.

I'm sort of getting into this writer/poet, Tao Lin. He seems kind of eccentric, writes bizarre/interesting stuff. Does /lit/ like Tao Lin's stuff?

Pic related, the book I'm thinking about ordering/buying.

I'm really liking Tao Lin's stuff there. Have you read either one of them? Do you know if the poem you posted is in either one?

I finished taking out the trash, and I vigorously washed my hands afterwards (as one always should when handling garbage). I was kind of pissed off that it happened, but it's not that big a deal.

I know. Even though I write poetry, I'm still kind of shocked.

Who was that written by? And was it written/published anytime from 2006 to 2011? If so, then it fits.

So I posted a thread here a few days ago about finding a good poetry book to review for a class I'm taking. You guys offered good suggestions, but I misread the requirements for the assignment. As it turns out, the assignment is to review a CONTEMPORARY poetry book, meaning it must have been written/published within the last five years.

Have there been any good poetry books written/published within the last five years? If so, please suggest some ideas to me.

Pic related, the book I WAS going to review (because Shel's just fucking great).
