One of my favourite books. Garcia is a good writer. I really don't care if it's "entry level" I just thought it was a beautiful piece of work.

It's not worth it at all.

Lin writes like a high schooler.
An extract from Shoplifting from American Apparel

"The strange man made noises behind me. I looked at him. He asked to see my shirt. "Do you work there?" I asked. He said he did.

I dislike Franzen, he just annoys me. That's not to say I don't like mediocre "contemporary" writers. I liked Everything is illuminated by Safran Foer.

Currently my favourite "not dead, penguin classic, ongoing" writer is Haruki Murakami. However I still prefer older works. That said pre-1920's literature isn't my thing sans a few like Hugo, Dumas and Caroll.

It's still better reading it in it's own vernacular.

French is the only acceptable way to read Camus.

Silent Hill, Ico, Psychonauts, Snatcher, Lucas Art point & Click adventures, Killer 7 and Eternal Darkness.

This isn't /lit/ related though.

It's funny, Silent Hill The Room sprung to mind when I was reading House of Leaves. I still don't see why everyone hates The Room. Silent Hill really didn't start to get bad until Origins, but I'm digressing.

There will be a name change, but most likely "Unclassy Fife Tenament/Terraced Housed Fag"

I'm sick of getting up early to travel over to fife, and it's easier to find a new place to live than new job.

reading the sticky before posting, and saying please would also be polite on your part.

Depends on the reader.
Gordon Brown reads Ayn Rand, Sarkozy reads Camus and Sartre, not because he likes them, but because the French left like them and he's trying hard to get in their good books. Berlusconi reads erotica exclusively.

Read Ubik if you haven't already. Do Androids Dream of... is one of Dick's overrated pieces. It's better than most sci-fi granted, but it's not a great book.

Nope. Mostly males. Gay, but males.
I think me, and maybe 3 other people on here are straight. Heterosexuals are the minority.

I tend to do that too. Although it's more I copy out the quote into a seperate notebook, along with page.
I also note the new characters and brief details e.g Tatooist, bat-shit mother, beaten as kid.
I've not really had any formal teaching in terms of note taking so I've always been curious as to what people fill notebooks, bigger than those they read, with.

I think he does resemble Louis actually. Not greatly, but you could tell they were father and son.
