What are you majoring in/studying in University/College, my fellow /lit/erati? Why did you choose it?

I'm majoring in Public Administration because the concept of the Bureaucracy has always fascinated me

Pic unrelated.

>You will never be a part of the Fremen Fedaykin, and you will never join Muad'Dib'd Jihad and overrun the Known Universe, having fun as you pillage, sack, loot, and burn your way through the planets of the Old Imperium in the name of Muad'Dib and for the glory of God

Feels bad, man...

The Jay-Z rapping - while not good - at least made for some interesting idiosyncratic anachronisms that served to highlight the decadence and hedonism portrayed in the film, do you not agree?

In the mists before the Beginning,
Fate and Chance cast lots to decide whose
the Game should be

And he that won strode through the mists
before the Beginning up to
MANA-YOOD-SUSHAI
and said: 'Now, make gods and men for me, for I have won the cast, and the Game is to be mine'.

Who it was that walked up to
MANA-YOOD-SUSHAI
in the mists before the Beginning
- whether it was Fate, or whether it was Chance - none knoweth

Who was it that won, Anons?

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and plan on reading some of Moorcock's other works (Ecce Homo, etc.)

Just finished reading Moorcock's 'The Dancers at the End of Time'

Implying you wouldn't want to live at The End of Time and have the power rings

Anyways, what is /lit/'s opinion on this book?

He refused normal temptations that any normal mean would have accepted: food, water, and rest. By all means, Jesus is the weird one.

Why are certain values 'holy'? Are they holy because God loves them, or does God love them because they are holy?

Not good enough - he was still born and executed 2000 years ago. Maybe if he sent us a Messenger every century or so, but he hasn't.

I see.

Why are people content with letting God dictate human affiars? God is a perfect deity: therefore, how can He even comprehend our troubles, our problems, our conflicts? He can't, and this makes him highly ineligible to rule.

Eventually, we will wage war against the Kingdom of Heaven, and force God to - at the least - consider a more liberal and democratic Republican form of government, with representation.

Why do the people of today, living in a democracy, who fervently believe in religion, so accept the concept of a Kingdom of God, but hate when politicians make a bit of headway and call it authoritarianism?

When we all die and go to Hell, /lit/, I want YOUR help - together, we - the countless humans who rejected the monarchism and authoritarian regime of God - will overthrow Satan or whatever demon rules over Hell. Then, once we have done so, we will establish a Democratic Republic of Heaven, and set about to - through hard work and civicism - set about to make a paradise of Hell.

Are you with me, humanists of /lit/?

Oh, Thou who burn'st in heart for those who burn
in Hell,
Whose fires thyself shall feed in turn,
How long be crying: "Save me, God!'?
Why, who art thou to teach and He to learn?

Guess this one:

"I would prefer not to."

It's iconic. Hint: it's a short story by a very famous author whom eveyrone knows about

1. Quote from the Necronomicon, appearing in 'The Call of Cthulhu'.

2. Quote from 'The Gods of Pegana', in which Mung argues with a man.

3. Quote from 'The Good Earth', in which Wang Lung returns to his home village after a famine devastates the area and forces him to seek refuge in the city.

Fine - I'll give you a really really easy one. And, the above quote was from the Trial of God, by Elie Wiesel.

Now, here's a super ridiculously easy one:
"His name was Mahasamatman, but he preferred to drop the Maha- and -atman from his name and be called Sam. His followers claimed he was a god. He never claimed to be a god....but then again, he never claimed not to be one."

Hi, guys, I'm back.

My quote was from Chambers' 'The King in Yellow'; specifically, from the short story 'In the Court of the Dragon'.

Now, let's stop the shitposting and enjoy the game, shall we? Here's another quote(s):

'All (crowding around Sam, begging): You are a tzaddik, an innocent, a Hidden Just! You are close to Heaven: intercede for us! Call the angels to save us - stay God's hand: you have mystic powers! Use them, oh, holy man, and spare God's Children from more shame and suffering!

Sam (pulls his mask from his pocket and raises it: the crowd shouts in fear, and Satan speaks to them): You took me for an innocent, for a saint? How could you be that blind? How could you be that stupid? If you only knew, if you only knew...'

Hint: it's from a playwright.

Also, if you don't like my quote, or can't guess, then someone post another quote and we can go guess that one
