Waiting for a white knight is Goldfish behaviour, literally the polar opposite of what my whole writing career advocates not only in word but also in action: Dream & do.

Having an ideal can make you strive towards that ideal, not waiting like some fucking princess. An ideal is the same as the highest possible goal you wish to attain.

If you have no goals, you can't direct yourself in the optimal steps towards that goal. Trite but true.

You could of course do a random walk and land in a decent spot, but even though the world is complex and the results of your actions highly illegible, I still think it's important to set goals and pursue them accordingly. Gotta do something to achieve something, even if you can fail due to being 'unlucky'.
