as I continued on my own

Usually I am a cultural relativist but have to confess I am fed up with them crazies who think
beheading is a nice idea in 21st century.
Then I was wondering.. Is there any Islamic sect that doesn't mind totally rejecting some of the more stupid ideas found in Quran? I know many do in effect, but can one say killing an apostate is totally wrong, no matter what Muhammad said, Period, and still consider himself a Muslim? I know a Catholic priest who publicly states that he dislikes the Old Testament's God because YHWH is too mean and vengeful and irrational. Something of the same sort?
