Have you considered practicing in it? Is it a language you could get translations of english children's books like Goosebumps or someshit?

When I see people post translations of Pynchon's work on here is when I conceptualize the depths of my monolingual plebitude.

Even without Swift's phenomenal prose Gulliver's Travels bare plot conveys it's themes exceedingly well.

>Women and Men

Have you actually read this? McElroy is really wierd, and a lot of people say this novel is unreadable or awful. Seconding Gaddis, though.

For the sake of this retarded OP they adhere to the tropes associated with the genres they are similar too, they're just really really good.

Have you read Infinite Jest or Mason & Dixon?

>> No.6181202 [View]

Infinite Jest is a sci-fi story, as is Gravity's Rainbow. Mason & Dixon and V. are historical fiction. Inherent Vice is a detective novel. Borges and Calvino write fantasy and fairy tales, respectively.

To subtly but drfiniteively spoiler the book. Also I think my copy of J R is prefaced with a rambling statement of its supposed difficulty.

Johnny Truant is an edgefag who bangs every girl he meets. Personally I didn't like his sections at all and felt like I could have not read the last 150 pages and not cared. In any case Orin and Hal are both sort of mary-sues of Johnny's calibur albiet less edgy. IJ also does meta-footnote digressions and drug use much better than HoL, imo.

If on a winter's night a traveler
Infinite Jest
Gravity's Rainbow
J R

If you didn't mind Johnny Truant I strongly recommend Infinite Jest

I'll probably read that as soon as I finish IJ then. I don't own it yet but I've been meaning to order it for a while. Have you read A Frolic of His Own?

I read Carpenter's Gothic then Agapē Agape and then J R and I think he's great. I definitely recommend reading Agapē before J R because it's actually featured in J R. I've seen people say they didn't like Carpenter's Gothic but it's short and sort of a crash course into his style. I haven't read The Recognitions or A Frolic of His Own yet but J R is one of my favorite books.

newfags from /mu/ can read more than 100 pages of their books so they don't get assmad and shitpost about them.
