I'm participating in Camp this year with a friend. I'm 6k in and I'm on track so far. A lot of people I know have done it. One of my author friends uses NaNo as her crunch time. Write then, edit later.

Yea, in Storm Front/Fool Moon you can sorta tell he's never done audio books before. By the time that Turn Coat or White Knight comes around, James Marsters IS Harry. And the audiobooks are worth it just because he will occasionally toss in his Spike voice.

Agreed. It's a great supplement to a history course. I read it in junior year of high school in addition to an AP course, and it's one of the few history books I actually keep on my shelf.

Has there actually been anything solid to back this up, or is it more supposition and circumstantial stuff?

The series does get a lot better, and picks up seriously in books 3 and 4. Also, Marster's voice acting gets better and his female voices become tolerable.

Aw, shit, I didn't even think of that...

And Jon? Seriously? Dear Lord, no. Don't give more power to him...

So, who are all the possible Azor Ahais? We've got Stannis, who is pretty much not Azor Ahai... Dany, or at least some people think it... Victarion and his manly fist? Who else?

Hope you read this, OP.

Also, if anyone else has any questions about the publishing/writing business, I can offer my second-hand experience that I've gotten from living with a writer.

I hate to necro, but I felt I should answer the question.

An agent, these days, tends to act as a link between publishing houses and writers. While a writer more often will approach a publishing house directly to try and sell their book(Your agent will not do the work for you), your agent is there to help you negotiate with the publishing house, help you pitch new book ideas, and basically keep you from getting ripped off. Also, they're there to cover your ass when you don't meet your deadline.

My mother does. She's releasing her third book next week, with her fourth coming out in October. I'm afraid I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject, but I can try answering questions.

Ah, Scott McCloud. I sorta tend to think of him as a "Guide to Style" for the comic form.

If your nice is into the genres, both Redwall and the Enchanted Forest series are pretty good. I have very fond memories of the latter, mostly because it was the first series with a female protagonist I liked.

Love this show. We watch it in our house, find it pretty hilarious because none of the writers I know live like this. Still, awesome mystery show.

Fuck. I'm a librarian, and I love this series.

Must mean that I read even faster than normal people. Shit.

But seriously, though, I love the series. It's freaking fantastic. Nice to have a series where the author's a bigger geek than I am.
