I think Anon's more referring to the kind of professors who talk about things that they don't actually have a full understanding of. He's not saying that Nietzsche isn't a gigantic influence on Foucault so much as pointing out that some professors would use this and a flawed interpretation of Nietzsche to try and dismiss Foucault without having truly read him (which does happen, in philosophy maybe more than in other fields, and especially with Anglos in regards to non-Anglo philosophy).

That's not Deleuze.
I like most of the "Post-Structuralists" though, I just think Deleuze is the very best.

Do you think anyone in this thread is an actual Muslim, and do you really think that is a requirement to go against what you are saying?

Some threads are just going to be more active than others, for a multitude of reasons. That's why it's best to only spend about 45 minutes on /lit/ at most, or limit the amount of threads you open.

And I also think it's fine to be ambitious. It's not hard for OP to actually continue this club since it's set-up is so easy. As long as one person still follows it, it's a success. Personally, I haven't had the schedule to keep up with the majority of the reading, but I still read the books that are on the list, even if it's later than the actual discussion, but that doesn't bother me so much, since I think I'll finally be able to keep up now. This turned into a blog, but I'm just trying to say that "failure" for this club is kind of a tenuous thing to try and define.

There's a link to the Ebook there as well. We're taking a week off for the holidays though. So far we've only read The Devil All the Time, next is Seiobo There Below.

Reminder that the Contemporary Book Club (started by the guy who does the Greek/Patricians challenge threads) is currently going on. We're reading Middle C by William H. Gass right now, and will have another thread to discuss in about ~2 weeks from now.

You made an assumption about a paper you haven't even seen a word from and called him a 'cultural marxist' for no fucking reason. It's not you're opinions, you're just a fuckhead.

I've seen a few good literature professors who were both good at writing and academics, but this is definitely a problem. Most are way to insecure to actually put effort into their work. On the other hand, most professors I've meet are pretty messed up in their own ways, bar a very select few.

Well, you really got me. Mind telling us who it actually is? I thought it was that guy because he came up in one of the 15 quotation searches I did.

I fucking knew it, you do this every thread, you already did the exact same shit with Delillo and Le Guin, and now you're doing it to Wolfe. Are you on a crusade to stop lit from talking about authors?

A lot of those Art Schools make painters that have a very good grasps on the technical aspects of art. They don't make 'realist' art because it doesn't interest them, it's that simple. Don't pretend like you've ever been in an Art School or understand what they do there (and the fuck ton of work they put into the techniques of their mediums), because it's clear you don't understand this.

And generally, when shit like this happens in the US, it's a publicity stunt/not an effective ruling as well. Headlines are made to sell to people who aren't actually there to witness what's going on, who would have thought.

Who need's Harold Bloom to say so? You're giving Bloom too much credit if you think he's responsible for DeLillo's popularity both here and elsewhere.

But no threads here will help you find books to read more than you just going out, finding one that sounds even remotely interesting, and then reading it. If it's not for you, save it for later and try again, then go on to another one. It works way better than you think.

And I think that it's great that you want to read, these threads just kind of clutter the main board. I hope you find what your looking for OP.

Please don't encourage him, if he can't actually make a reasonable thread (well, he really shouldn't even make a thread and just read the sticky).

Fuck off, are we not allowed to talk about authors in a positive light now? He's one of the most well known contemporary American authors, of course he's talked about often here.

You're not actually talking about those books though probably because you haven't read them, so no, you don't have those books.

It's already been pointed out in this thread, but he has makeup and a costume on to make him look really old and shitty because he was playing a part in a movie (a role based off of himself, iirc). As far as I know, he hasn't actually aged that much.

And if you don't like the keyboard it has, just go with >>5845706
and buy a mechanical keyboard using cherry mx blue switches or something similar. At that point, it's about the same cost, but you look like slightly less of a faggot doing it. I say slightly less because using a loud mechanical keyboard with a computer makes you look like a techno-wizard, which can be both a good thing and a bad thing.

Or, just write with a fucking pen and paper.

The worst part about this is that there are already products made to do this at a much cheaper cost (products which were brought up in the last thread on this, actually).

Also, since you didn't look up the threads on the archive already, you're either an idiot or a shill, which doesn't look good either way.
