I think they're mostly short stories, but I'll upload what I have. Sorry.

Were you looking for something in particular, OP? I have some stuff I haven't sorted through yet but I'll upload it if you were.

OP, read this. Do not read the summary of the plot. Sooo much better than it sounds.

It's somewhat long but it isn't hard to read unless you can't pay attention for any length of time.

I think anyone who's ever been through an American high school can do without another "minority in America" story ever again.

I've embarked on an epic journey to read every Star Wars book ever written, even the crappy ones

Seriously, unless it's operating systems or graphics cards or desktop threads, they won't know what to do.

OP: Kindles are pretty good, and you will probably not be disappointed. I hate their lack of .epub support.

I use a Sony PRS-505, which is great if you don't want features like touchscreens or wifi or keyboards, which I don't, but some people do. If you want those features, I'd suggest a kindle.

Also, get Calibre. And here's some free ebooks. http://www.nautilus-solar.net/SandyGunfox/books/

Timeline's ending becomes horribly depressing when you actually stop to think about what the business leader guy did.

Basically, the "villain" in the modern-time part of hte book is nothing more than a douchebag. He's not trying to kill anyone (and in fact goes to great lengths to ensure people's safety and is visibly worried when people are hurt) and he's not trying to make huge amounts of money doing anything illegal or immoral. They trap him in the past where he'll die of the black plague simply because he's an arrogant asshole.

>> No.1170774 [View]

I don't pretend to have some moral justification. I hate the guy who thinks it's okay to steal/pirate/otherwise take from a large corporation just because they're a large corporation. As a business student, I find it a little offensive that it's somehow okay to take money from a business if they're big.

Pirating books is immoral, but it has a very high reward:risk ratio, and quite honestly, I could not afford to own 11,344 real books even at, say, $9.99 per paperback. That's $113,440. Now, granted, I don't intend to read even a tenth of my ebook collection, but the nice thing about it is there's no risk involved in picking up a book that looked or sounded interesting. If I'm sorting through my still-unsorted books and come across something that looked cool, I'll just add it to Calibre and get around to reading it. If it turns out to be kind of lame, I'll just delete it off my ereader. If it turns out to be great, I have another book, great.

I buy plenty of books, but piracy is extremely convenient, cheap, and allows me to find books I'd otherwise have passed up. It also allows me to read FAR more than I'd be able to afford otherwise. I haven't set my ereader down since I got it, and I read a good 2-3 novels a week.

Sphere STARTS full of cliches, then abruptly abandons them and turns into a cool psychological thriller like 60 pages in. Don't get turned off by the first few chapters, it's one of his best.

I liked Andromeda Strain, too.

What does /lit/ listen to while reading?

Static white noise? White noise like rain or wind sounds? Classical music? Nothing?

Personally, I'm pretty good at tuning out distractions, but sometimes I'll put on rainymood if I'm at my computer, or wear my noise-cancelling headphones if I'm not.

Pic unrelated.

Because the American school system is highly effective at thoroughly beating out any interest in literature that children might have?

I was lucky. I never as a child got told no in a bookstore, and it was before the schools had a chance to turn me off from reading forever, so I found early that books can be enjoyable.

>scifi
If you like Star Wars, the X-Wing series and the Thrawn trilogy are highly regarded as not being typical EU silliness. If not, there's plenty of sci-fi classics and I'm pretty sure there's a /lit/ sci-fi guide around somewhere.

Fantasy: Pic related
