They sounds different in my head but to anyone else they probably hear the same sound each time, but I've also lived in five different states so that probably isn't very surprising.

I can verify that it is in fact a pretty entry level foreign movie. Still pretty obscure in terms of the general public but that's usually a dumb standard to work off of. I wouldn't call it the best movie ever, but it's still definitely my favorite if that makes sense.

I wasn't trying to sound like I'm the only person that has seen it, just that if you haven't seen it, you need to drop everything and watch it right fucking now.

I love HP for the nostalgic value of growing with the characters, and just enjoying their lives, but its mediocre as a read, being made for children.

Dude, what are you doing? I love comics but this isn't really the place to just launch into a random story time.

I came as fast as I could

seriously though, /lit/ isn't going to be the place for this contrary to the specifics of this particular story. Your best bet would be to try a stephen king thread on /co/ or something.

Love them. Something about immersing yourself in a story through visual and textual immersion has always had an appeal to me that books, while obviously being able to rival or overtake, have never really compared to in the same way. There are a lot of things you can get from a comic book story that go unnoticed in books. The inverse is true too but I think that just furthers the idea that the two mediums are just too different to fairly compare.

But, I can understand what people can find distracting or unappealing about them. These people have tastes different to my own and I have no problem with them.

Having said that, I reached the conclusion a long time ago that anyone that sweeps all comic books together as inherently juvenile or without literary merit are ignorant morons no better than people that say they "can't read LOL" on facebook or turn their noses at masters like Vonnegut or Heinlen for reasons as superficial as setting and theme.

As an aside, I never understood the problem people have with the term "graphic novel". A distinction between something like From Hell and any old Green Lantern trade is a necessary one and not something to trivialize.

If you want to get into a discussion about whether one is "better" than the other, than thats a different story.

What I found out on my first day posting on /lit/:

>/co/ is more accepting of homosexuals who dump traps/shota threads, and tell of boyhood.... stories, gay porn derails in fetish/general threads, and gay comic threads than /lit/ is accepting of someone who is normal gay

>/lit/ is 50% trip users

>rest (if not including) are pretentious, elitist, and ironic hipsters

Graphic novels are literary forms as well as graphic art forms; the difference being a single franchise has multiple authors, universes, and stages.
I love all books, but graphic novels have pictures.
That's really the only difference.

I've always preferred Borders.

The club cards cost money, floor managers are so annoying, and always move me around, and take my books when I go get some cake/coffee, or pick up my stuffed animal chair in the kids section.

That's annoying. At Borders, there's none of that, and they always have a superior, cheaper selection.

Ugggh, I remember watching this alone at about 3 am.
I hated and loved it immensely, and cried about 4 times. The premise is overdone, but I think this pulled it off so perfectly. The effect is so impacting (I wrote nothing but stuff in this genre for months).
My favorite character by far was the hippie.

Yeah, I am (though I do lurk frequently). I noticed /lit/'s behavior from /co/'s e/lit/ist trolls, and decided to come here for it. I wanted to join the same way I do most boards. By derailing an off-topic thread. It usually results in:
>"gtfo yu newfag namefag troll"
or, "gb2 /b/" and at least 3 people being nice and talking to me.

I'm a bibliophile, so I read moreso out of compulsive necessity, than preference, so Dumas, Poe, and Verne are my favorites, because I'm reading them now.
I'm in the midst of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

He's always resembled the world's most flexible person, to me.
Minus the make up. I doubt it, since he's poor and russian, and engrossed in his art.

Well, well, well. Lookit that. :/

If we're going /this/ off topic, lets turn this into a girl's only hookup thread

I'm Terra and I like books, a lot, and maybe more than I'd ever like you. I'm kinda misanthropic, especially towards ignorance. I love my sister more than anyone. I was born at 1 1/2 lbs, without a single defect besides undeveloped lungs. I'm 17, and my birthday is in a few weeks (first day of Summer). I like drawing, and specialize in realistic manga style. I play the violin. My hobbies are medical science, cartoons and comics, art, and quantum physics.

I'm Black American, 5' 10", and 96 lbs.
I'm told I have average aesthetic looks (no make up; genuine chocolate face).

My preferences towards girls are tall with short, dark hair and tanned with long light hair/eyes. But, they don't matter so much; I'm pansexual.

My literary preferences are fiction from the19th century and under, and I'm on a Verne/Dumas kick. I also like comics and manga, but I'm not reading those so much, this year.

As for guys, I like 'em with short dark hair and eyes, under 5' 7", beta, and immature /co/mrades.
