I seriously hope george ends the books better than the producers did for the show, they're apparently going to work on a new star wars trilogy and wanted to get it over with. Of course, it's more likely george will die of heart disease before it's all finished.

The balkans was part of multiple empires which worked to improve the area; it contained multiple civilizations, all which produces literature, technology, art, etc. They were not thrust into civiliation as were many africans, and they were not discriminated against based on race. What are you talking about? African-americans dominate our culture. If you're talking about crime/intelligence, then it's obviously a result of the aforementioned problems. No other race was in our country to the scale of africans prior to immigration acts in the 60's. The majority of the non-african minorities who now inhabit our country are immigrants, meaning they were (with a few exceptions) subject to immigration procedures. This weeds out many undesirables, improving the sample population.

If we're to ignore the lack of academic agreement on this stance, we can easily point to slavery & jim-crow to explain the problems with african-american intelligence. Plenty of people read, and I'm certain reading will make a resurgence the more technology takes precedence in society. Regardless of the masses reading, there are still groups of individuals dedicating to finding classic literature (the nobel organization comes to mind).
