babby's first adventure book?

You do realize that the easiest way to introduce a twist in a story is to kill off an essential character. When you do it 6-7 times in a row it isn't innovative, it just shows that the writer has no more ideas for the character and needs to get rid of them in order to give his story élan.

I think the reason for that first category (besides greedy college professors wanting to capitalize on hipsters) is that philosophy is very hard to get into. What I mean about that is that there is so much referencing and building from other works that people don't know what to read first. This makes it very hard to expand your horizon without actually going to school and studying.

Do other people do that too. I thought it was a little weird when a former friend of mine did that to me. Funny thing is: he's gay now.
I'm not originally from the States, and in the time I've been here I noticed, not so much a homophobia, as a distinct fear of being labeled as a homosexual.

OP, there's nothing wrong with a little man-crush. IMO it doesn't mean you are gay.
I don't know the origins of this, but I know Hermann Hess' novel Demian explores this theme quite a bit. You should check it out.

>Stephen King = too many fanboys who consider his books good literature
He's all right as long as you keep in mind that he is a hack.

Sage for off topic. I never read the series. Fantasy westerns are not my thing.

I hate when people use the 'true king' argument. Fuck that. If a king is bad, we depose him, I don't care if it is another realm. These are facts deduced from logic.
The perfect twist would be that all the common folk revolt and install a marxist republic.

How much would it ruin the books for me? Obviously not Sartre's, but Dostoevsky's.

This may seem like a stupid question, but should I get that book even though I never read any Dostoevsky or Sartre?
I definitely plan on doing so, I just want to know if this is a good place to start.

If you seriously think his work shows innovation in literature, I don't think this is the place for you. He's a capable writer, his books are interesting, but they bring nothing new to the table. The literary community knows this, Martin himself knows this; there was nothing wrong with that until thousands of fanboys who never read a book without a dragon or a magic sword in it started crying about it.
