The central character in the Malazan Book of The Fallen series is a lesbian. Though calling her a central character is a stretch as she never(?) gets POV time and doesn't feature in the early books. The major arcs somewhat converge around her actions though.

I'm studying political science in university, thats why 90% of those books are political or political theory. The dummies book was my sister that I read a few years back before starting university and the How to Read a Book is just brilliant. Helped a lot with reading some of the harder philosophical texts.

Dont give up! I've wanted to organize my books for awhile now so I took them all down, placed them on my bed and just went through them on the website. It seriously takes like 10mins for 80 books.

PART 4

Day after day, it's speech became, clearer, sharper, increasingly intelligable. It began to spew vulgatities without rest, every few days it would break down into unintelligable blabber again and receed into long hysterical moments of crying. This went on for generations, each new one coming to know the suffering that it caused. Each one, never going near the monster, yet unable to escape it.

PART 3

The tears of the unfortunate people whom this tragedy had fallen upon slowly gave life to this seed. An eternal nightmare awaited them when it sprouted. On the darkest nights, it burst from the ground. A revolting, monster, who stemmed from the earth. A neck and a head with no no eyes, no nose, no ears. Only a mouth. A mouth which it produced ta sharp, blood curdling scream.

Life had become a living hell for it's audience. They were unjustly doomed to eternal suffering by this hellish creature.
But the worst had yet to come. After weeks, It's shreiking had stopped. It began to babble incoherntly, but amongst the indecipherable stutters, and screams were words. Icomplete phrases, which only spoke of suffering. They were but melancholy ramblings which had no meaning.

PART 2

It began to give of an unbearable odor, a smell which instilled a feeling of terror in all that came across it . . . It reeked of death. Soon it became to much, every man, woman and child went mad. People would break into hysterical fits, and sob themselves to sleep. Yet no one dared go near the seed.

After years, the seed had been enveloped by the soft dirt. A reassuring feeling of security, had come. It was finally gone. But there was always a hint of uneasiness in the air. The putrid smell, although faint, was still there. But this time it was sharper, more volatile than before. What was once a smell of death, that induced horror, would become like the chilling realization of stumbling upon a corpse, the smell of horror.

PART 1

For what seems like an eternity ago, a tragic mistake set in stone, forever a black mark on the sanctity of a peaceful village occured. All sense and logic had fled the land long ago before it happened, as they knew this was innevitable. From the dark, stormy heavens fell a huge seed, twice the size of a larg, grown man. It fell just outside of the village.

The seed stayed there for months, slowly sinking into the dirt. Children would ocassionaly examine it playing around and on top of it. But parents quickly scolded them and prohibited anyone in the village from going near the seed, everyone would rather carry the burden of fearing what it could be on there shoulders than taking a risk and going near it. After weeks the village had forgotten about the seed, it was only a memory to them. However they would soon be reminded of it's presence and given a taste of the horror that was to come

Greetings, /lit/

I recently wrote a short story, and wanted to request a critique.

It's a bit on the depressing side but I wanted to see if anyone would get the message

I know there's a lot of room left for improvement but I just couldn't wait to show it to somebody.

It's long so I'll be posting in parts!
