what is it really that is going on here,
you've got the system for total control
so is there anybody out there,
now watch us suffer, cause we can't go
what is it really that is in your head,
what little life that you had just died
i'm gonna be the one that's taking over,
now this is what it's like when worlds collide ...

are you ready to go - cause i'm ready to go - what you gonna do baby - baby
are you going with me - cause i'm going with you - it's the end of all time

what is it really that motivates you, the need to fly or this fear to stop
i'll go along for the ride but surprise, when we get there is say 9 of 10 drop
now who's the light and who is the devil, you can't decide so i'll be your guide
and one by one they will be hand chosen,
now this is what it's like when worlds collide ...

are you ready to go - cause i'm ready to go - what you gonna do baby - baby
are you going with me - cause i'm going with you - it's the end of all time

what is it really when they're falling over,
everything that you thought was denied
i'm gonna be the one that's takin over,
now this is what it's like when worlds collide

I think Raymond Tallis would be a good example. Although I agree with that characterization of intellectuals for the most part, and think that the age of intellectuals is coming to an end.

Erudition can provide a means for challenging one's own views, but it doesn't automatically make one wise.

Falsifiable: my thoughts are caused by a little man inside my head pressing buttons.

Unfalsifiable: the entire universe, including my apparent memories of the past, was created through divine intervention fifteen minutes ago

I was referring more to metaphysics, and how a theory of physics necessarily implicates some sort of metaphysical view. I'm not a specialist, so don't take this as gospel, but it's pretty widely accepted that reading Spinoza had a substantial direct impact on Einstein's physics. Or so I've heard.

You have a good chance of converting some of them if you point out the massive importance of Spinoza for Einstein, or of Husserl and Leibniz for Goedel, and so on.

Just to add to that, how do you explain why Ron Howard wasn't dismissed as a director?

Or Woody Allen?

Or Rob Reiner?

Or Charlie fucking Chaplin?

Or William fucking Shakespeare?

Franco is shit, deal with it nigger.

>> No.5805975 [View]

>>5805962

You think it's impossible that people are disregarding him simply because he isn't any good. Therefore you believe that everybody should watch all of his films before dismissing him, as opposed to watching, say, one or two and realizing he's a hack (which he is).

By your logic, everybody would have dismissed any director ever who happened to have a previous career as an actor. This is absurd.

>I feel like most people will disregard anything Franco does just because of who he is. (not saying you are)

I am. Life's too short to wait for Franco to become competent/realize that he's not the genius he thinks he is.

What, you think we've all got some obligation to watch and appreciate everything he's ever done?

I don't care. Lynch was that book's one and only chance for the book to have a decent adaptation, and Hollywood suits ruined creative control and thus the entire enterprise.
