>10 years of age
>reading Stephen King's "It"
>first 18 pages, that little kid gets his arm ripped off by Pennywise in the sewers
>nope the fuck out of there, stop reading the book for like three months
>finally finish it
>it was pretty good

People read it expecting an insight into the causes of WWII and such like that. What they get is a poorly written book by Hitler.
Everybody I know who reads it ends up extremely disappointed. Including myself.

It was originally Twilight fanfiction, but the author got increasingly high reviews (from people who read Twilight fanfic) and they urged her to publish it. So, she changed it to avoid being sued by Stephanie Meyer and published it by herself. It went a few years without any popularity, and then suddenly it was on Goodmorning America and Random House Inc. bought the publishing rights from her and republished it on April 17, 2012. Since then, it's sold an unbelievable amount of copies. At the B&N that I work at, we sold 50+ just today. We sold over 500 copies in the month of May.
That's just the first one, too.

I personally think it's just absolutely awful, but hilarious in its awfulness.

Yeah, it's worth a shit load of money and he got it for a dollar.
He owns an antique shop and knows a guy who restores old book covers, so he's most likely going to make a fortune off of it.

Wow, I totally forgot the best part of my story.
It was a hand-illustrated bible that was illustrated by Salvador Dali.

For the first time reading the other books, read them in order of publication.
Second time around you can go for chronologically, if you want to.
Publication order: Hobbit, LOTR, Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Children of Hurin
Chronological order: Silmarillion, Children of Hurin, Hobbit, Unfinished Tales, LOTR
Not too sure about the placement of the Unfinished tales in the chronological order.

Yo I seen that episode. Where they go through that dimensional gateway and that retarded kid with the huge head recreates life from the past but since he's retarded it's just on a constant fucked up loop and the JLA wrecks his shit.

But in regards to the OP, I would have enjoyed that ending better if it had simply ended with: "And how we danced."

I've only gotten through the first couple stories. I enjoy it thus far. Just don't expect it to be like somebody reading you stories. It's more like a textbook of sorts than a storybook.

Roger Penrose - Road to Reality, Cycles of Time

You need to narrow that down a whole lot. There's so much history. Do you want American history? European? Asian? Military?
What do you want?

I think they're ashamed just fine. It's not like the current people of Germany did anything. They should only have to be ashamed of their country's bloody past so much.
