>Funny how a disgusting fetish like homosexuality is a-ok and wonderful, same with murder of children and our nations.

You CAN'T compare sexual orientation with child murdering... you just CAN'T.

Yet I agree that OP was stupid and that you just SHOULDN'T KISS SOMEONE LIKE THAT. I mean... you don't kiss someone just because they seem nice.

How does /lit/ Organize books?
By Author?
By Size?
Take in mind that most of the times there are books of the same author but in extremely different sizes, and there is no benefit in organizing them by size but the "clean" environment (and maybe the Ed. categories)

Well, I have some experience with philosophy in general. I have read the basics and I'm familiarized with the terminology. Also, I have Fernando Savater's Aventura del Pensar (Which is a general outline of the most representative philosophers).
Anyway, being specific, wich texts do you think will need a "Helping Hand"? and do you know of any helping hands I could use?

I read about Dostoyevsky aestheticism, yet maybe he will fit better in another category. What would you advice me to do with these 2 maybe open a new category? In that case, which?

My favorite part was when they are discovered and the thingy is repeating what they say. I didn't expected the old fella to be a spy. , Also the ending was food

Tell me if this is a good pick for aesthetic-decadent works.
>The Renaissance - Walter Pater
>Marius the Epicurean - Walter Pater
>Against Nature - Joris-Karl Huysmans
What others would you add?

>> No.2053224 [View]

I think Kafka's Metamorphosis, along with Camus's Stranger are good for a starter since they are short novels. You can also get classy and recommend 1984.

Sorry about that! I was missing Salome. And about the shorts. I got them in another Language, not in English, so I just tried to guess haha.

I know few about Wilde's non-fiction, is it good?

So /lit/, I've been reading Oscar Wilde lately, have 5 plays, (Lady Windermere's Fan, The Importance of Being Earnest, An Ideal Husband, A Woman of No Importance). Also I got a compilation of shorts from him (includes The Crime of Lord Arthur Saville, The Picture of mister W.H., and the Ballad of Reading's Prision).

I Plan reading De Profundis and Dorian Gray, maybe I'll read the Ghost of Cantervile too.

Is there anything else worth reading from him? I'm really enjoying his works!

It was mainly Ideological, as far as I know. After a while Neruda used poetry to advertise the Communist Estate. This made Borges mad (he hated Canto General most of all), so he made a character in The Aleph that was just like him, and made fun of him and his poem (which tried to visualize al the thing in the universe), as an irony, Borges does this same thing with the Aleph, but he just uses one page to describe the entire cosmos. Go read that story, it has the structure of the Divine Comedy also.

I've read The Aleph (I recommend reading The Aleph, Deutches Requiem), The Book of Sand (I really enjoyed this one, specially the same-titled short story), and I'm about to finish Fictions (I really loved La Forma de la Espada and La Biblioteca de Babilonia).
The Aleph (mostly reality-to-fantasy stories), The Book of Sand (mostly related to infinity), Fictions (main themes are the infinity of paths in life and probabilities).

I enjoyed them all. I recommed those three books VERY much.

I've read The Conquest of Hapiness by Russell... I don't consider myself and amateur, yet I think that this encyclopedia-like collection will help me.

>>2040522
Well, I would like to know if anyone would pay 200 bucks for a 4-volume collection of History of Wester Philosophy. About the author... I'm not quite sure, but these books are in Spanish, so probably it is a not-so-famousguy or a Spanish Editorial.
