The book was bad because there's some things that just dont commit themselves well t text. Addressing all the characters as their titles rather than names devolves into Gimmick tier really fast and being meticulous about every little fumbling detail turn the thing into a chore to read. The movie gets around this with some damn impressive lighting and color choices and by not even bothering giving the characters names. It helps with the whole "Blind" thing which last I checked was supposed to be a major focus. With the book it comes across less as blind and more as "Sorry but I forgot your name, what were you saying?"

I'd say the Harry Potter movies are superior to the books. Mainly due to the fact that the movies dont spend half their length talking about menial teenage bullshit. They get right into the supernatural ass beating and fireball launching.
