Not really, I'm just a dumb tripfag who didn't realize that on a slower board like /lit/, I was only going to get a few numbers sequentially at a time. Since I seem to have read a few small clusters of these books, I am, in fact, embarassed that I did not realize this sooner.

Sincerely, >butthurt.

One Hundred Years and Lolita.

But I fail to see any objectivity in this graph at all. No scholarly references, no BMJ or APA studies. I think it was simply made by somebody who has read a number of books from diverse genres, then felt guilty about most of them.

Or perhaps he wrote down how many words he had to look up the definitions to, and correlated those loosely around a number system.

The two I gifted in this thread were both from Canada. We'll see in the long term if it makes up for a shitty 23rd birthday. I've got to admit, I did feel better knowing that two people in Canada will, within awhile, share a special little piece of literature with me, and hopefully their lives will be enriched for it.

Hey Tess,

I've officially tried every single item on your wish list, and I am still being stymied every time I click to ship to your wish list address. The page simply reloads, and nothing happens, in either internet explorer or firefox.

Either the items you two have picked are not compatible with gifting, or the electronic cosmos are conspiring against it. I was able to gift anything from Joseph's list, so I chose a book he wanted to read that I enjoyed in the past.

I have found that I actually have two separate gift lists -- one is on amazon.kindle.ca, the other on kindle.ca. They are separate, and most of the kindle objects cannot (yet) be gifted in their kindle format. Probably unrelated to your problem, but I guess you guys need to add books from the Amazon library, not the Marketplace library, because once I track down the Amazon copy of your wish list books, the checkout no longer recognizes that they are for your wish list.

Well, since checking the box, there is a new development. Now, when clicking to ship to your wish list address, I get the notification:

Important Notice: Marketplace items cannot be purchased from somebody's Wish List.

I'm not sure what designates something a marketplace item or otherwise. Any idea? I've tried at least three of the books on your list (Lolita is the one I want to gift most, but only because I loved it so much).

Unless you three guys check that third party box, I can't send you anything that Amazon uses third party companies for (i.e. 98% of their stock).

I've tried the books that indicate they are stocked by Amazon.ca, but they are obviously ordered from somewhere else.

I'll refresh this thread a few more times to see who has checked back, but my mood for gifting is being tested here.

The Court of the Air, and its sequel (Kindom Under the Sea, I believe).

Steampunk for adults.

I think I may have found it;

When looking at my own wish list, at the bottom left I can "Add your ship-to address".

Once in there, there are two boxes to check or uncheck near the bottom. One is about not ruining surprises (they don't notify you if somebody has gifted something on your list), and the second is allowing third-party (i.e. the book seller) access to your address for shipping purposes. Here's the text:

If you decide not to enable this feature, customers purchasing items for you that are sold by sellers other than Amazon will be required to enter your shipping address.
Yes, let Amazon.ca share my wish list shipping address with third-party merchants to ship purchases from this wish list.

You guys will have to check that, so that I don't have to input your address manually.

Well, before, my own address and that option for your address would display, and I could choose either. I chose to delete my own, thinking it would make yours work. I'm going to play around with it a bit more.

Yes. I like books, watches, and chess.

But back to the problem at hand: For both of your lists, I go through the following steps and get stuck:
>Browse wishlist
>Click "Add to cart" beside the book I wish to gift
>Click on Cart, proceed to checkout
>Asked to sign in, do so
>Refer to image on left
Clicking on "Ship to this address" simply refreshes the same page.

I hadn't considered that used books wouldn't work. Lemme see if I can find copies of the books in question that aren't used.

Because I'm getting frustrated by the button still not doing anything, lets find an alternate way of doing this. I can manually input an address, and since all three of us live in Canada, this is do-able. Can you open a chat sesh or something so that I can get your addresses discreetly, then just input them?

Post your wish list, and if I can figure out why I can't proceed past "ship-to", I'll see what I can do for you
