Definitely, I remember finishing The God Delusion with my deism intact. The book didn't offend in any away, it was until I got my hands on The Selfish Gene that I started to have doubts and eventually turned atheisy mostly due to the facts that I never got to learn in the biology classes of my Catholic HS.

Both books were very easy to read thanks to his very calm and confident tone.
