Go back and remove every adverb from that passage. Then after that, remove every single word that isn't absolutely necessary to understand each sentence.

It's difficult to write effective prose when there's a bunch of useless filler words.

It doesn't really mean anything. It's just a marketing niche for publishers.

People can write a great book, submit to be published, and then have it gutted so it can be published as YA.

I wonder how they would adapt it and not fuck it up. The way the story is told doesn't seem like it would work well in a film format.

A lot of anti-feminism seems to arise from the folks who are smart enough to see that the average tumblrina is bad at making arguments, preferring regurgitate rhetoric than attempt to understand it.

The flaw in reasoning with antis is that they think SJWs are in anyway representative of the concept of "feminism" at large. It's like saying racist, homophobic Southerners comprise the entire US.

Strong arguments for what feminism is about (for and against) are difficult to make, because the definition is intentionally vague. It encompasses everything from radfems who believe men should be castrated at birth and reproduction done in vitro, to people who are outraged that we still live in a world where little girls are beaten for wanting to go to school.

Arguments that women are intrinsically inferior in some way often rely on circular logic or ignorance of contributing factors to certain statistics. Males inherit intelligence largely from their mothers (X chromosome). Women often outperform men on creative tasks.

There's really no strong standing point for being a misogynist unless you're dumb enough to believe the standard troll: "If women are equal to men, then how were they oppressed in the first place?"

Chauvinsim aside, is it even possible to get a genuinely good story big on that website? Even the most well-rated stories are fucking awful.

So much for the future.

I went to college for four years and was forced to stop because depression made it impossible to function (it triggered after one of my closest friends had a psychotic meltdown at my house while drunk and attempted to kill herself). I couldn't afford to continue, which meant that I had to come home and move in with my parents again.

I've been searching for work for a full 6 months and every time I get some lead on a job, it gets dashed to pieces by bad luck or a fuck up on my behalf. When I'm not applying for every job out there and hearing absolutely nothing back, I have to stay home and take care of my dad, who has degenerated from Parkinson's disease to the point where he's in diapers and can't even sit upright.

My family has intense anger problems and blames everything on me. I have an uncle who regularly comes over to call me a useless piece of shit and physically abuse me, which came to a head during thanksgiving when I was shamed by the rest of my family for finally standing up for myself.

I distract myself with studying digital media encoding, practicing film editing, and writing. At the moment I'm trying to score an internship for a company that designs museum exhibits.

All I really want right now is a way out, and a regular source of income to not feel like a fucking failure all day.

Use >greentext style.

No really. People use it so often on here because of how concise it is. If you want to practice, take your favorite greentext story and write it out as a dramatic narrative. Also, try summing up the plots of various works in greentext style.

Shit works wonders.

Most people crap out in a week because writing 6-7 pages a day is hard if you aren't used to it. Seasoned writers can probably do that much in a couple hours but it's still tiring unless you're super dedicated and know not to worry too much about the quality of your initial drafts.

To put things in perspective: a strong, meaty paragraph tends to be about 100~ words. If you can write 500 of those over the time span of a month, then congrats, you've beat NaNoWriMo!

The man has an overly-inflated ego and thinks he's among the likes of Pynchon. His books are "eh" at best, namely because he has the potential to write solid, though-provoking literature but goes the hack route and writes what he knows will sell to the self-important teenage girl demographic.

Yet he acts as if he's writing world-changing innovative books that will rock the foundation of all literary fiction tropes for the rest of eternity. Just look at his tumblr to see how far his head is shoved up his ass.

In your heart, you carry the burden of having to mercy-kill and bury your toddler brother when you were nine. You two were abandoned in the woods and a wasp laid eggs in his brain. You had to smash his head in with a rock to kill the larvae that were controlling his mind and would eventually bring about the end of this age, once he fully matured into the Doom Prophet of the Dark Lord Xoyl'rjt.
