Well, light novels. Basically YA fiction, and with pictures.

Also, not that it had a plot worthy of novels, but R.O.D is ABOUT novels, authors, and bibliophiles, so it needs a mention.

Pic related.

Plus, Salinger references drove the first season's entire arc.

>Anime is just whacky Japanese animated versions of Sabrina the Teenaged Witch and Saved by the Bell. Nothing to see here.
Pic related. Man, it's just like that one episode of Saved by the Bell where Slater opened the seventh seal and his friends coagulated into tang.

I covered Twin Peaks.

Haven't seen Carnivale yet. A shame it, too, was cancelled. Did it have an out of nowhere quick-wrapup finale on the level of Twin Peak's, or did it finish as if another season was around the corner?

To illustrate that neither my or your orientation has anything to do with my response to you, nor should you think this so, as it's actually on the basis that you're retarded. This is true for anyone else who takes shit up with you, too.

Of course.

Hm. I liked it, but it's too much of an almalgam of it's medium I can't exactly say it's novel-esque, it's more like anime on crack and the substance is mostly in it's crazy as fuck visuals.
>Boku no Pico
BUT OF COURSE

Also, non-anime: I'd add in Lost and Twin Peaks.

This is often the case, but there are certain titles which can be on-par with literature. For the most part the storytelling is incoherent and muddled, or pandering to a demographic of neck-bears, yes.

Yes, and this thread pertains to literature.

And there are those who are mild examples of both, a mixture of the two, or neither.

Why so archetypal?

In relation to the thread about other mediums having the same value as books, what are some anime titles (or other films, series, etc.) that you value as much as books (if books are what you value most of the mediums), or that remind you of novels?

itt novel-esque animus, pic related.

Just try reading fast.

Don't focus on every word and be afraid of skipping over the exact meaning; verse is when you need to pay very strict attention to every word.

Words themselves aren't as important in prose, so just fly over it and build the images as you go. That's it, really. It's hard to keep at a different pace than what you're used to, but you'll get used to the faster one with more regularity.

When I saw this at borders I thought they adapted an adaption of a novel into a novel.

I wtf'd and then felt stupid.

And even stupider than a name-change, they sold it next to the version that had the original title. How the hell would I not be confused?

Hm. I'd say it has two books in it; the part where he talks about writing, and a memoir, and the memoir is split so that it opens and closes it.

It does. I think both volumes did, and I remember it looking to be pretty thorough, talking about presentation, what to do about agents, etc. On Writing has some publishing advice too, actually, and since it comes from King I'd put some esteem on it.
