The cartoons were how I was first introduced to the series. Ausfags might remember when they showed it on ABC.

I think they were VERY good adaptations.

You're fucking mad. Now, I've never seen the play; but I HAVE seen the movie. It was garbage. The novella was great.

I rarely read non-classics.

For a time it was actually cheaper for them to make their own than to dub the original.

The background picture in the last one is from the Russian version of "Married with Children" if you weren't aware of it.

I ought to remake this one.

Well, it means I have to hide a lot more threads than would be the case otherwise.

Lol, I guess /lit/ should stop talking about all fiction then?

Fuck you for associating a great series with a disgustingly overrated pair of shitty JRPGs.

Yeah, I mad.

I've got a copy from the 80s that I found in an op shop. Maybe the first person to own it was some yuppie that saw Wall Street and wanted to be a merciless businessman.

One thing I always find interesting is a glimpse of customs and etiquette that are no longer observed.
I thought maybe we could have a thread on little snippets of culture that we have read about in books.

From John Steinbeck's East of Eden:
(I'm about 130 pages into it.)

>The iron straps rattled around in the box, and a leg of venison, wrapped in wet burlap to keep it cool, jumped around on top of the iron. It was customary in that day to take some substantial lump of food as a present when you went calling on a man, for you had to stay to dinner unless you wished to insult his house. But a few guests could set back the feeding plans for the week if you did not build up what you destroyed. A quarter of pork or a rump of beef would do. Louis had cut down the venison and Adam provided a bottle of whisky.

>implying anonymous posters are much smarter
>implying my personality will radically change if I remove my trip

My posts are just as smart/stupid with a trip as they would be without it. Your legion bullshit is ill-founded.

Don't you boys feel even a LITTLE bit silly toeing anon's party line? Tripfagging doesn't necessarily result in a situation like /fa/'s. Tripfagging was how most people originally posted on 4chan.
Why do you even rage at the harmless ones?

>I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You're wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.
