Mine's pretty shameful. Just two shelves of fiction novels, a shelf of trades and hard back comics/graphic novels, shelf of non-fiction and a bottom shelf piled up with single issue comics and magazines.

Hey, /lit/!

Need a little help. Writing something and I'm trying to lock down the best way to vocalise the Theme for pitching, etc.

The story is about these two people who need to learn to work together to overcome their obstacles. Very basic stuff.

So, would you say that saying 'Two heads are better than one' is the best way to vocalise the 'you got to learn to work together' theme?

I know it's a cliche, but usually the people you're pitching stories to love that shit.

Any help would be awesome, thanks!

For some reason I've always loved the word 'Elaborate'. It's basic, but I use it a lot.

It's 4:30am, sorry! I just meant to emphasize that I can't think of a more heart breaking ending in ANY book, let alone just a children's book.

I literally just finished this. I'd seen the movies but not really known that they cut the story short quite a bit.

This is probably one of the most heart-breaking endings to any Book I've read. Certainly any children's book.

What do you think of it, /lit/?

Also, can anyone name anymore stories that break your heart? Children or adult.

Almost got Anansi Boys for freebies.

Yep. I'm Australian, though, but it didn't even give the option of a code.

Does it have to be with the official Ebay store?

>> No.3511784 [View]

Yeeeah, committed to buying something, went through check-out and there's no place at all to put in a coupon code.

Shit, a lot of people are reading this! What's up? Is there some kind of /lit/ book club or something?

Yeah, that's me. It was /tv/. Weird/nice that someone remembered me. Thanks man!

I will totally definitely read Dune next. I've been putting it off for too long.

>Peter in Kensington Gardens
It was pretty hodge podge but had quite a bit of charm to it. It's a few chapters out of a larger book Barrie wrote, this part just about Peter Pan.

From reading both, I have the feeling that Barrie was the kind of author who just started writing something without actually doing a plot, taking notes, or sorting anything out beforehand. Just winging it as he goes.

Not sure. Something more adult. Maybe The Great Gatsby, Dune or Gunslinger.

I'm doing a thing where I make sure I definitely read every day. It's working out well. Been doing it over a week and already finished 2 books.

Just finished this. Anyone else read it?

It was pretty good, I enjoyed the ideas and themes explored. My main critique is how ridiculously narcissistic the main character is. He's just...so self-important it gets a little frustrating. That said, it's not an inaccurate view of the nature of being human.

What did you guys think?

Also, there any other good time travel books out there?

Cool, I'll check them out!

I actually read and enjoyed The Hunger Games. Well, the first one.

Why would I want to change the intent of the author and the nature of the book?

What would the point in reading the book even be, then?

I saw it listed in the gay and lesbian section of Good Reads just now.

I kind of dismissed it because my Sister is into chick-lit dodgy books and loves the series. So yeah, assumed it was shitty.

Are they actually worth reading?

Thanks.

I'll accept stuff with gay secondary characters as well.

Are there any good homoerotic novels set in a fantasy or sci-fi universe?

Nothing too smutty, just enough to get me a little hot under the collar.

Actually, I doubt there's enough for me to be picky. Any Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels with homosexual themes would be nice.

This is going to be a busy year for me. Thinking of setting it at about 25 books.

Do Graphic Novels or Trades count?

>> No.3454336 [View]

Bleurgh, just tried to join Goodreads and kept getting 'Sorry, your session timed out - please try again. Please also make sure you have cookies enabled.'

I have cookies enabled, cleared my cache and everything. Bit sucky. Ah well, guess no reading for me this year...
