What’s so funny? Tarkus is a masterpiece.

Kafka. I don’t think Jorge “Mommy’s Boy” Borges has much to offer compared to the Czech Stallion.

You haven’t read Ego and His Own where he explicitly praises a little girl masturbating as shattering taboos?
>Where could one look without meeting victims of self-renunciation? There sits a girl opposite me, who perhaps has been making bloody sacrifices to her soul for ten years already. Over the buxom form droops a deathly-tired head, and pale cheeks betray the slow bleeding away of her youth. Poor child, how often the passions may have beaten at your heart, and the rich powers of youth have demanded their right! When your head rolled in the soft pillow, how awakening nature quivered through your limbs, the blood swelled your veins, and fiery fancies poured the gleam of voluptuousness into your eyes! Then appeared the ghost of the soul and its eternal bliss. You were terrified, your hands folded themselves, your tormented eyes turned their look upward, you — prayed. The storms of nature were hushed, a calm glided over the ocean of your appetites. Slowly the weary eyelids sank over the life extinguished under them, the tension crept out unperceived from the rounded limbs, the boisterous waves dried up in the heart, the folded hands themselves rested a powerless weight on the unresisting bosom, one last faint “Oh dear!” moaned itself away, and — the soul was at rest. You fell asleep, to awake in the morning to a new combat and a new — prayer. Now the habit of renunciation cools the heat of your desire, and the roses of your youth are growing pale in the — chlorosis of your heavenliness. The soul is saved, the body may perish! O Lais, O Ninon, how well you did to scorn this pale virtue! One free grisette against a thousand virgins grown gray in virtue!

Try his essays or short fiction. I recommend the Lobster book.
Also, he was self conscious and always had a sense of self awareness and awkwardness with his body.

Bullshit, what about ELP’s Tarkus and Can’s Future Days? What about Gravity’s Rainbow?

This. Goodreads is just a way for the mega elite to control you. We need decentralised blockchain reviews, man.

Dude, you got published, which means you were given a chance. Just work on one project for at least two years and I'm sure you'll get that next Great Novel out there. All the naysaying and crying about diversity quotas is a coping strategy for people who likely haven't put themselves out there or who don't write very much or well to begin with. I've seen literal 12 year olds get in magazines. If you can't compete with that, then maybe writing isn't your thing.

Then become an agent and accrue enough capital to start a publishing house. You can't wish away the evil SJW crowd that barely even control much of the industry. The Big Five do.

I think the fact self-publishing isn't as cool as Samizdat is because there's no real powers that be that are stopping you from writing anymore. Nearly every shitty writer is given a chance. I think it's actually hard to get unanimously rejected, so these people who are self-pubbing fantasy/sci fi schlock with no innovation just aren't reading that much or writing anything different for their oversaturated markets.

Plebs don't understand true art. What was even being read in the 19th century other than schlock? Balzac had to try and fail many times before he was commercially successful; even then, he wasn't that well-regarded in high society. It was the age of the bourgeois philistine, so of course TRUE artists would suffer.

Think about an opening sentence for an entire afternoon, then slowly commit that to memory and find something that really pops. Once you've got that, add more strings of sentences to it, until you have a book. Meditate, grind, win, play.

This. Imagine the 2,000,000+ books being published every year. They’re not worthy of the paper they’re printed on or the ISBNs they hog. It’s honestly disgusting that we waste so much energy and money on a bloated corpse of an industry/cultural medium.

Find me even 100 books published from 2000-2020 that are worth reading. More than 90% of the books from that period are shit, and it’s not any better for 2021 onwards.
