I started with Discworld translated into my language, so some of the puns and rhymes didn't translate that good, but I don't think there is something inherently "British" that those books have. As the books do take place in a completely fictional world. Additionally, the books do not seem, at least to me, very comedy focused, as the humor is part of the world building, but the story/plot are solid and not just a joke.
