Yes.

But in seriousness, I didn't get that vibe. I mean, his character (at least in AAM) is a bit of a cunt, but I don't know that those are his real thoughts. I feel like it's more of a way to explore the issue that I think a lot of people in longer term relationships fear, and to some extent experience. People, men especially, but women too, get tired of their partners. It's just a fact of life. And I totally understand, and can empathise with the idea that until you meet "the one" or whatever, your interest will just wane.
A more serious book that explores this that I enjoyed was called "Love and Limerance" which draws a distinction between that early phase of intense physical attraction (limerance) and long term love. For a lot of people, they are only capable of feeling one or the other, and sometimes neither.

It's scary...
