You want a readfag's opinion?
Don't touch age of myth (read the Riyria books in publication order, if you like those THEN read the age of myth books)
I never read malice (looked too romancey to me)
Blood song was great, lord tower was a drop in quality, and Queen of fire shit the bed with uncontrollable diarrhea.
Prince of thorns was okay-ish. It had it's shitty parts though (been years since I read it, can't remember what was so bad... probably repressed)
I recommend Sanderson, Erickson, and The Witcher books in publication order(it had this old fae mythos going, and the prose was enjoyable).
I also enjoyed the inheritance trilogy (some people here say it's too anime), you should read her Broken Earth trilogy too (fuck dreamblood).
Read the Abhorsen trilogy and pretend the other books don't exist.

If you want, peep my chart and see if something tickles your fancy. Green by Jay Lake was enjoyable for me, No one ever in sffg's read it but me, so you can make that a club of two(also the author is dead, so according to lit this makes the work 100x better).

I was here since the beginning and read every single post ever made in a sffg, even the shit posts... Over two+ years I wonder how many words I read in that time? More than the completed works of Malazan botf?

Once you enjoy what you read don't bother with lit, they are elitists. Read Night Angel Trilogy then look at my chart and see what catches your eye.

When sffg started about 2+ years ago people kept crying for more charts. So after months of others whining I made this >>9732478 (my second attempt because the first one was too lazy). Of course it and it's predecessor were met with immediate ridicule as is expected of this general.

Many months later I made pic related. It is supposed to be books that can be enjoyed by a modern audience. I've read a lot of books and many of them didn't age well, so I slapped together this chart of books that might appeal to everyone (a little bit of everything).
If you want I can post the 4th version I made, that is much closer to what I originally wanted(still too lazy to complete to satisfaction. Ask anyone that made a chart from scratch, it takes hours).

it doesn't matter if I read The Once and Future King before/after The Lord of the Rings, right? i can read all this fantasy in any order?

or does it borrow/reference it or something? further, the same goes for everything Tolkien inspired, no? so i can read Malazan Book of the Fallen alongside LotR or before it or after it....or should i just read LotR first because it inspired the entire genre?

also: for books inspired by/about King Arthur, the same question: should i read The Death of King Arthur before Idylls of the King, or should i just read it in whatever order i want? i was going to read Tennsyon's story before the famous Malory one. i have a very basic, casual understanding of King Arthur, his knights and the round table (Sir Gawain, Lancelot) and Merlin and all that. further, the same goes for T.H. White's stories...or should i read the previous King Arthur stories before Tennyson's and White's for "foundation"

i know this is an autistic question but where do you think we are

I hope you read the blurb and a few non spoiler reviews to see if it's what you wanted.
You also might enjoy Metro 2033 and Roadside picnic.
If you want wacky modern pulp, try The undying mercenaries.
You want mystery and discovery, tey Library at mount char.
It goes without saying. Check the blurbs to see if it's what you like.

Also there is a heroes die that isn't by Abercrombie?
P.s. Also. I read more books than him, I think I can judge if Gilgamesh and LoTR shouldn't be moved to a 1.

Can we pick something else to discuss than fucking Rothfuss? This is the fourth thread that this reddit fuck is trying to turn the discussion to name of the wind. Getting pissed about this. There are literally millions of sff books. Let's discuss something different this thread, something that isn't botns or name of the wind.

I miss the bakker countdown autist. At least he was different every thread.
Dino-as-measurements anon, you here? What you reading?
