My wild charger
My mount (suggestive, but that shouldn't be a problem in a setting with centaurs)
Stud
Destrier (obscure, but French and thus romantic)

Manas? Is it good?
In fact, I wanted to ask: is Döblin like Melville in that his other major works are almost just as good as his magnum opus, or is he more of a one-trick pony?

>I loved Learning How to Learn. Motivated me to pony up the $80 bucks for Fihi ma Fihi.
You should definitely pick up Knowing How to Know and The Commanding Self, then, too. They make a sort of loose trilogy with LHTL.

Shah made special note of The Commanding Self’s importance in his corpus and, from my reading of it, it indeed seems to have this importance, being a sort of ‘master key’ to unlock more meanings in his works and the Sufi stories he gives.

>Also, al-Hallaj running down the streets screaming "I AM THE TRUTH" is a hugely significant event in spirituality. Hell, it's the spiritual version of E = mc^2. Shaths in general are great, but that one really takes the cake.
‘I’ is always phenomenologically and ontologically primordial in coming to understand or interface with Truth, Being, Reality, Existence, or whatever label you give this. It is the given, the presupposition of all thought, existence, or experience at all. Any interface with Reality always presupposes the ‘I’ who is interacting with it (or comprises it).

A dangerous misinterpretation of this can lead to spiritual narcissism and megalomania (like Jung’s idea of inflation, which could come from strong identification with an archetype in Jungian thought, but also, as I’d extrapolate it, could come from strong identification with a religious teaching or spiritual teacher). In Sufi terminology, to believe that’s one’s nafs, or ego, lower self, dog-like outer personality, or what Shah translates as the commanding self, is utterly divine, justified in everything, etc., and that it is the real ‘I’ being spoken of here, would be the risk here, and what authentic Sufi teaching tries to ameliorate.

‘I am the Truth’ is true for everyone. But, as in Hallaj’s case, it’s liable to produce some controversy when stated that plainly. It’s seen as blasphemy.

Honestly you should read Red Pony by Steinbeck. Blew my mind as a young disgruntled reader. Really got me into literature

>2.p1 insert elated for elatoed
>2.p1 something's fucked up with the phrase "a big fucking intense". not any particular clue here, maybe insert "a big fucking intensity"? not really sure what the intended effect is here
>2.p2 for "organisation and that" insert "organisation that" (unless this is intentional, indicating a run-on of thought. use your discretion)
>2.p2 insert "But in" for "But In"
>2.p4 insert "cock in" for "cock on"
>2.p2 has a case to be made for amending "post modern" to "postmodern" given the later usage of the term "postmodernism", for consistency's sake. i'd make the change, but i don't think it matters that much
>2.p4 insert "Java My Little Pony" for "java my little pony". this is probably a matter of stylistic taste tbqh, but i think the indication of title and status makes the point better. could leave as is if you wanted
>4.p2 insert "action" for "aktion" (unless i'm missing something here. this is a pretty unlikely mistake, after all)

Trump's win proves that the two parties collude to maintain their strangle hold. Clinton pretty much handed him the election, her campaign strategies after the primary were pretty much designed to alienate men and moderates, the more she lost from those demographics the harder she pushed on those strategies and her debate skills dropped to high school debate tier. She threw the election because a Trump win would push more moderates to the left, push the far left back towards the middle and push the far right out of the GOP, it was exactly what was needed to avoid a third party of any note arising.

The GOP primary was pretty much a dog and pony show.

And then we got the beige president so everything could calm down. Next year will either be the republican version of Biden or Biden. Last I looked at the list of GOP candidates left me leaning towards Biden, the Obama and Trump years are still too fresh in the moderates minds to go with anything but nice bland and safe beige.

then there's this understated gem:
>Lady Emily Winter-Willoughby was the Duke's daughter; she was nearly as tall as her father, but she was not conspicuous for beauty of feature or of dress. For a fleeting moment, Curzon, as his eyes wandered over her face, was conscious of a likeness between her features and those of Bingo, the best polo pony he ever had.

“Is love the only thing?” she asked, in low, sweet tones that seemed to bring a calm even to my wrung heart. “If love were the only thing, I would follow you — in rags, if need be — to the world’s end; for you hold my heart in the hollow of your hand! But is love the only thing?”

Some years ago, being with a camping party in the mountains, I returned from a solitary ramble to find everyone engaged in a ferocious metaphysical dispute. The corpus of the dispute was a squirrel — a live squirrel supposed to be clinging to one side of a tree-trunk; while over against the tree’s opposite side a human being was imagined to stand. This human witness tries to get sight of the squirrel by moving rapidly round the tree, but no matter how fast he goes, the squirrel moves as fast in the opposite direction, and always keeps the tree between himself and the man, so that never a glimpse of him is caught. The resultant metaphysical problem now is this: DOES THE MAN GO ROUND THE SQUIRREL OR NOT?

Berserk has an alarm to it that the old relics lack. The Bible has an alarm to it that if you believe in the last days alone this book has a threat to it. Berserk assumes you relate to Guts and his distance from the Holy See. It is written in Japanese for a Japanese audience and this Holy See symbol is a polite polemic that was ported to the west. This alone should give the westerner effaced self awareness. The Westerner is left like Guts alone in the wilderness with his painfully real realization that the castle strewn landscape is ignorant of. I felt it and resonated when I finally found someone signaling this massive departure from precedent. It is their native precedent. It is the precedent of my Pre Christian ancestors. It is a message of Exodus that is more valuable than the marketplace gallery and pony dog show. It simply says "i feel it too bro". Like Nietzsche's Zarathustra, it does not replace 2000 years of monastic civilization but it flips the narrative on its head. Milk for babes and meat for strong men says the evangelist. This one is meat. The fancy gala can starve for all I care, their full suite of curation is dust to me.
