anyone else throws away books after they read them? I keep only the books that makes me feel like in future I might want to read them again. as a result I have only like 20 books in my library. is it a case of extreme OCD or something?

I throw them at teenagers in my neighborhood, hopefully they read some of them. I used throw bricks but I've had a lot less issues after I switched to classic literature.

Nothing wrong with having a smaller collection but that seems incredibly wasteful

Weak shit, burn them and inhale the fumes.

Having a tight curated personal library of things that speak to you is sensible. Having something more fleshed out for research (or just wide ranging 'hobb'y interests) or building with an eye to sharing with the next generation is the other side of it.

You could have donated them for a tax writeoff or else sold them to buy more books or invest the money.

Hoarding books is a sign of mental weakness, the words matter not the binding

yeah, I feel like I only want to have books that I return to, things that I consider outstanding. I have books that I worn the binding of because of how many times I come back to some of the notes I took in it.

there is something about having a big library full of books but I can never bring myself to build a collection like that. maybe it is a reverse OCD where I must not hoard things.

You can always just buy it again, if you're not subject to poverty. Or download it

No big deal, you good

I don't particularly understand this mindset at all. Are you reading classics of the Western canon? If so, why are you throwing them away? If not, why aren't you reading them, what are you reading instead?

unironically why I hoard books. I don't trust the world governments to prevent an apocalypse from happening. I will most likely be one of the dead. Which may be lucky or unlucky depending on how life is in the post apocalyptic future.

I throw them off bridges onto the freeway, topless with terrible wine breath in the middle of the night.
