Are we ever going to get a philosophy board? Seems like 90% of the philosophy related threads on this board don't feature specific books as per the rules.

29 new vidya boards a day and we can't even contain the philosospergs who just wanna big dick each other

Do we really need an entire board for le trolley problem?

Not just /phil/, /econ/ as well. /lit/ has too many economically illiterate fools while /biz/ is obsessed with making money and /sci/ is full of non-opinionated NPC imdergrads

if you do, it should be Philosophy and Religion-, not just philosophy

But I want my /lit/ and /phi/ bros together.
Why split us, when you could unify us?
You guys mean the world to me. I couldn't imagine never interacting with all of you at the same time again.
Please don't do it mods.
Friendship rarely survive across borders.
That's something I know for sure.

are they friends? the threads have very different tones. phi guys are always trying to one up each other in esoteric understandings. lit guys are nice

>> No.16108286

No. I like to discuss philosophy and religion but it attracts people who don’t read books like flies to shit. People don’t really care about discussing fiction literature if they haven’t read it but they love doing it with non-fiction, particularly philosophy. I’d sacrifice some unity because I want to discuss books on a slow board without the catalog being clogged by shitposters and political extremists who don’t read

>the creation of a philosophy board might kill /lit/
Literally the opposite, /lit/ will get a chance of being a slow board again with actual discussion. Philosophy threads are reducing /lit/ to the state of /tv/ or /mu/ because it attracts people who don’t read and just want to shitpost

Whoever has the power to create boards seems to be appealing to the dorky user base of 4chan rather than its nerdy user base. Meaning that dorks like videogames and fantasies, while nerds like science and academics. 4chan has always been more dorky than nerdy, hence the prevalence of new boards about videogames but none about academic subdivisions.
