I'm reading Jack Kerouac and can see some similarities of style with that of Pynchon's GR (I only previewed the first ~20pgs of GR). Is beat the way to go when easing into GR?

In Slow Learner, Pinecone said he thought On the Road was a great novel ... not sure he feels the same about it now

I'm sure he was aware of Cassidy, Ginsburg and Burroughs, but he's a maximalist. The only thing that prepared me for V and GR is Ulysses
