writing isn't something that can be summed up to MY FAVORITE AUTHOR > YOUR FAVORITE AUTHOR. And no, not because of your sickening and vague sense of subjectivity. Rather because authors consider and extrapolate on their own thoughts: which are nuanced, open to misinterpretation, and by nature of the activity largely self-referential. Saying Tolstoy is any better of a writer than Shakespeare is just naive and venomous. The same goes for Dickinson and Poe, and you would do well to approach authors on their own ground, critiquing where you find an honest misgiving - Instead of just lauding your selected favorites evermore like a giddy schoolgirl, constantly tribbing on convoluted prose.
