I've heard claims as wild as that there was a society of men all writing under the name of Shakespeare. And that this is the same society of men popularizing him, and keeping old white dead men at the top of the western canon. They're probably Nazis or something. Old Nazi time travelers.
Anyways, what does it matter? The works are great.
