So... Has anyone here read Persepolis? It's been recommended to me by a friend and I would like to know if this is worth checking out.

>> No.993677

I wish I could say. I saw the movie and liked it, but never took the time to find the book. It's a graphic novel though, isn't it? I normally don't dig those, which is why I never bothered.

>> No.993675

It is.
/co/ would tell you the same.

/co/ would probably object to that for the sheer reason you mentioned them on /lit/.

Bought The Complete Persepolis for $25 at Barnes and Noble (wasn't thinking at the time). Year later, found the same book for like $1 at a garage sale...ARGRGFFSDF.

Regardless, it's a really good read. Satrapi is very funny, and often a badass. Donated my $1 copy to my old Geography teacher in High School cause he let kids read books about the middle east and he basically had a giant collection of Shit Runner which everybody read.

OP, it's well worth the read. I remember getting my copy 2 years ago and I couldn't put it down.

Also, the anon who is posting shit about communist sympathies in this book needs to turn off his computer and sit in the dark.

Movie was twice as good.
But the graphic novels are cute too. She compares god to marx in the beggining. The first book is so charming and nice.

dull and forgettable

I had to read it for school (incoming college freshman) and I liked it a lot even though my peers seem to hate it sort of.

Consigned. It's really not worthwhile. Plus, you can breeze through the thing in 45 minutes at a bookstore if you still want to read it.
