Read it as a project for university

I didn't like it. Felt like the author was preaching half of the time, and the other half was just really flat dramatic action and predictable characters. The opening had promise, but it just kept getting worse and worse until the lackluster ending.

i have such a love/hate relationship with Atwood. on the one hand, i absolutely love her prosaic style. on the other, i generally find her characters flat and plots uninspired.

that said, i disliked Oryx and Crake. firstly because, well, the characters were flat and the plot was uninspired. secondly because it was so, so, SO preachy: almost disgustingly so. she made no attempts to hide her political and philosophical messages and it was a complete turn-off for me.
