Is there any good vidya-related books you would recommend? Wiki shows nothing about that genre (or i can't seem find it at least).

Also, any book you would recommend about coding C# you would recommend, too? Open to other suggestions too.

good game design is learned first hand. nothing in a book can teach you that. if you're interested and want some help, i can give you advice in making vidya

Already read. Nice book, afraid of the movie

>>9882754
Oh I know, I'm starting a masters next semester about it and I'm all in the hype. Also trying to learn some Unity by myself. That said, reading and knowing firsthand the experience of professionals is always interesting.

I know i'm a pleb here, but I would really appreciate if you were to educate me and guide me towards good vidya-related or tech-related books

I wouldn't mind reading some good sci-fi, but I'm looking more for non-fiction books

In that case I would recommend that instead of reading a book about C# you pick a decent language to learn instead and move over to it by working on a project while having a reference that tells you the main differences between the new language and one you already know.

After you've got the basics like that you can start reading articles on paradigms, patterns and the like which are specific to your new language.

As for books about vidya, there aren't really any. Most of them are written by hacks to sell to college kids stupid and overfunded enough to study "game design courses". If you want to learn about design your best bet is >>9882754 but also playing older games helps you see how modern design patterns have evolved and understand them better.

Oh and GDC have some great design talks mixed in among the shit. Check out the design, post moretm and programming playlists particularly: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0JB7TSe49lg56u6qH8y_MQ/featured

What's your original degree and what's your masters in?

Seconding this, GDC has some great stuff

Sorry for lateness. I talk about C# because I see it's used in Unity, but maybe C++?

I'm trying to aproach design, but i'm right now just learning Unity, haven't even tried to make something completely mine. I'll look at GDC thank you very much, anything in particular you recommend?

I first did a degree on english studies, and now going for a master on game design and development

the hardest part of making game is the art, or balancing the mechanics, the coding is not hard since there are so many engines that make the coding relatively simple/

I'd rather avoid art and take coding. Balancing mechanics is something that I guess will come in time when I first try to create something.

>>9884537
Yeah, I read a bit about this book. I think it's a great addition too, thanks.
