Listening to music during reading. Do you do it? What do you listen to? Do you think it enhances your enjoyment of the book?

For me, I sometimes listen to ambient, drone or soft western art music. I don't like to let the music influence the atmosphere or mood of the book too much so I generally choose ambiguous or plain music.

Anything overly involved will just be distracting as far as I'm concerned. Ambient electronic is usually all I can listen to or soft classical like Satie or similar but even at that they tend to be overly complex for me to simply act as background music.

Any of Brian Eno's ambient series are generally perfect for reading to. He describes the purpose of ambient as ideally being as interesting as it is uninteresting. It's actually hard to find stuff that fits the bill.
