What books can help me overcome the arrogance of intellect?

This story about JBP's friend really hit close to home (first 3 minutes) and I thought about it all day long today; that I'm not as smart as I think I am; that intelligence isn't everything; that my intellect was not well nourished; that the world doesn't owe me anything just for being smart.

just remember that you'll never be a successful author and probably won't even complete a phd either, hell, do you even have a job?

Try asking yourself why you are that way.

I think it's partly because everyone always told me I was smart. Most people who know me would describe me as smart, intellectual, etc. So it became something I felt like I had to live up to, and then I get more people telling me how smart I am.

The specific story is what I'm more interested in, and the general theme of intellectual arrogance. Not a JBP thread.
