How do I get into professional proofreading? I already have a degree in English, but I've recently realized I know nothing about proofreading or tracking changes in a Word document. Any advice on where to start learning this stuff?

Have you ever been an editor for a publication OP? Even a free one?

Hasn't this been done by computers for the past twenty years?

I've interned at a literary magazine, but that was more for submissions. I tried my hand at proofreading, but they told me it "wasn't my strength."

I had a short stint with my own proofreading business a few months ago; I had put up flyers around and within college campuses and public libraries.

I suggest that you do the same. It would be nice to have a little experience with it before you start thinking about a professional career.

I can share my flyer, if you'd like. I have a good, hearty list of literature on the matter as well, should you reply.
