I need some books recommending to me, as I'm on the last one of my current batch and want to put in an Amazon order this afternoon.

For this batch I'm looking at stuff that is a bit more Sci-Fi (I've just read a whole bunch of meh crime books, I need a change) and wondered if you guys had any suggestions. Bonus points if it has serious political undertones or if it is a part of a series.

Pic sort of related. I guess...

The Sparrow is a horrible book.

It is about of bunch of Jesuits who run around playing like they are storybook rabbis, but also Jesuits, a mildly–interesting alien culture and then DINOSAUR ANAL RAPE OF MARY SUE.

I have always enjoyed books from the Ender's Game series.

The Sparrow is OK, not great, but OK. The sequel, though, reads like it was written in two days. Awful beyond belief.
