1: they always read too slowly, and unless you've got a good media player you can't easily skip forward

2: they DELIBERATELY mispronounce names. if there are two ways to say a name they'll choose the uncommon way.

Fine for history, political, and some philosophical works, but if you use them for prose/poetry, I can't listen without just reading along or scrapping it altogether. Basically if there's actually beautiful writing, just read the thing

Some of the absolute best instruction I have ever received was via The Teaching Company mp3s. Philip Daileader talking about early and high middles ages and Michael Sugrue talking about the Socratic dialogues are really without peer. Highly recommended, not shilling.
