Most you'll need is 3 bookmarks

1 for the text
2 for the endnotes
3 for their footnotes

When I read it I only used an online guide which broke down what happened in each chapter, but I only used it for the first few chapters (probably up to page 125ish) because the set ups for everyone were a little confusing.
As far as having markers go, like the other anon I just used one for the story and one for the footnotes
Stick with it anon, once you get into it it's pretty good
