I'm 26, not particularly attractive, but I am female.

Mind, insecure probably doesn't cover it. I was in a psychiatric hospital for most of 2012.

Sorry, i'm too shallow.
I was also in a psychiatric hospital, but only for about two months.
Spent nine months in a long term type place though.

The beginning was good. It set the atmosphere well.

The whole bit where she was in the hospital felt rushed, like the author was glossing over it. It was not on par with the rest of the writing.

I read I Never Promised You A Rose Garden about a year ago and thought it was better.

The inability to grasp the tongue-in-cheek nature of the OP proves this is an actual girl.

What is life like for you, lacking a sense of humor? I guess you wouldn't be able to tell. It must be like being colorblind and not realizing.

Really? I thought it had quite a strong emotional load throughout the book.
I had a strange "homey" feeling about this book. It felt eerily comfortable.

What's this book about? (I never promised you a rose garden) would you recommend it to me?

I Never Promised You A Rose Garden is semi-biographical account about a young woman with schizophrenia in a psychiatric hospital published in the 60s. It is not comfortable.

Yeah, but it's the big one. There were suicidal kids being shipped in from all other the world there.

Oh boy. Okay, I've found a couple. One from maybe nine months after I got home from the hospital, but I look like an adolescent boy because I had a mohawk haircut at the time. Then I found a different one from the time I was on the neuro ward in 2014. You do not know how many folders of dog photos I had to go through to find them.

Here's the older picture.
